Musing on the 42nd Age Bracket
The most obvious part of 42 is that it comes after 41. Luckily, I'm still here to enjoy it. But of course there are other references.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, lists 42 as the the ultimate answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything but of course, the question remains an everlasting puzzle.
In mathematics, I did a very scant amount of research and the number 42 has a rather storied background:
- Take ANY number, square its digits, and then add them up. Do the same thing with the answer. If you keep doing this indefinitely your final answer will either be a 1, or you'll enter a loop of solutions that -culminate- with the number 42!!!!!
- 42 is the 5th Catalan Number
The Catalan numbers form a sequence of numbers that occur in various counting problems
The Catalan numbers among other things describe the number of ways a polygon with 2 or more sides can be cut into 'n' number of triangles or the number of ways in which parentheses can be placed in a sequence of numbers to be multiplied, two at a time. - The number '42' in base ten is equal to '101010' in base two. 42 (base 13) is equal to 54 (base 10).
Numerologically, 42 is a 7 year for me, a time for quiet reflection , introspection and high intuition. A time for rolling with the punches and seeing the glass half full. This year my thoughts have wings so making like Pollyanna wouldn't be an ill-considered idea.
